GMS / Mirror Staff
We are excited to welcome our students back from remote learning as we plan to return to regular operations next Monday, October 26th. During this time we have seen a reduction of cases so that currently there are no active cases within our school community. Furthermore, we have taken this period to clean the building many times to ensure every area received a disinfectant and sanitation treatment. We also used this time to review our procedures around mitigation and spread of COVID-19.
In order to safely return and create an environment that has learned from our recent cluster, we are making a few changes specific to the wearing of masks.
- Going forward, masks will be worn at recess and in the classroom there will be an increased vigilance about masks being worn when 6 feet of space cannot be maintained. This will result in more mask wearing throughout the day, but mask breaks will be factored and built into the daily routine.
- We continue to work with our HVAC company to make sure our air handling system is running as best as possible. This past week, work was able to be done to continue to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of this system.
To prepare for the return of students, we will be at the school tomorrow (Friday, 10/23) from 3:00 – 5:00 PM to receive Chromebooks that families have borrowed. While we know many other materials were sent home, we only have the capacity to receive the Chromebooks tomorrow. We will work with families to receive the other materials early next week as the students return or with parents if the supply load is too great to carry on a bus.
It will be nice to have students back in the building next week. Remember, we are doing an early dismissal every Wednesday with dismissal beginning at 12:15, specific times and details will be in tomorrow’s blog. Please conduct the self screening each morning and to exercise caution as we head into the cold and flu season.
