Dear LRBL Families,
We hope that this message finds everyone well.
Thank you to those who participated in our earlier survey. We are happy to see a level of interest to play and we have continued to weigh all options, with the ever-changing information available to us. We are writing to provide the current status of the 2020/21 LRBL Basketball Season.
Instructional and Recreational Basketball: Since the schools are closed to outside groups and Talent Hall is also unavailable, we are forced to delay the start of the season. We will reevaluate the situation and options towards the end of the year, with the hope of being able to offer something in January.
Travel Basketball: The Manchester Suburban Basketball League (MSBL), which we normally participate in, has canceled the 2020/21 season. However, alternative leagues in our area are still forming and we are gathering the detailed information on each to determine the right fit for our LRBL Travel program. Any decision will be made taking the health and safety of all our families into account, including league documented COVID protocols. The LRBL board is taking any participation in leagues very seriously. If a league is chosen, it will mean local area games, as well as practices as a rented local facility still to be determined. As you can imagine, the change in format will result in an increase cost per player, which will be calculated based on choices made. We intend to immediately open registration to interested Travel players, without financial commitment at this time. This will allow us to begin estimating teams and costs as other decisions are discussed. Please register ASAP at http://www.lrbl.net/ to inform us of your interest to play based on the preliminary information shared. Coaches: Coaches are also needed to have a season. If you are interested in coaching one of our travel program levels please go to http://www.lrbl.net/ to apply. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work for a solution. We will do our best to make every possible effort to offer a basketball season, while prioritizing the safety and wellness of our participating athletes, families, coaches, and communities as a priority when making decisions.
