Birds of prey have hooked beaks and strong feet with sharp, curved talons. As meat eaters, they use their keen vision and hearing to locate their prey.

Of the raptors found in New England, the hawks, eagles, falcons, osprey and vultures are daytime hunters. Most owls are nighttime hunters, with some exceptions such as the Northern Hawk Owl.

The Golden Eagle and Bald Eagle are the largest birds of prey in New England.
