Doug Nicoll / Health Officer

This is the Friday January 29, 2021 Litchfield Covid update.

LITCHFIELD, I have some great, positive news to report! During the past week the COVID numbers in Litchfield have decreased for the daily active numbers. The active cases in town dropped from 54 to 37 active cases over the last ten day period. The weekly average has decreased from an average of 7 down to an average of 3 per day. There was a single day increase of 11 new cases in the past week which also was a decrease from the one day high of 17 cases last week. GREAT JOB LITCHFIELD! KEEP IT UP!

The total count currently being monitored in the E911 system is down to 80 from 112 cases. This number reflects both other family members of a known positive covid tested person who may have been infected as well as those who are infected and stay home without seeing a doctor or being tested. This is a best guess estimate which keeps previous people with multiple family members on the E911 list for a slightly longer period of time to provide a small buffer to add protection to police and fire first responders. There have been no new Covid related medical emergencies in town during the last week. This has not occurred in Litchfield for several months.

We can all celebrate a small victory for this week, but this is but one small win for now. We all need to keep our guard up, keep doing our daily safeguards of wearing masks, staying socially distant and washing our hands.
