5/10/2021 A lifesaving team consisting of the Litchfield Police Department, Litchfield Fire Department and the Hudson Fire Department worked together on December 13, 2020 to save the life of a 37-year-old cardiac arrest patient. The team of eight tonight were recognized for their lifesaving actions and presented Lifesaving Commendations in a ceremony held at the Litchfield Fire Station. Eli Young the man’s whose life was saved and his family were in attendance at the event to thank the team that saved his life.
The Certificate of Recognition read as follows
“On the morning December 13th at approximately 11:15 AM Litchfield Fire along with a Hudson Fire Department Ambulance and Litchfield Police were dispatched to the Young residence for 37-year-old male who had collapsed in the bathroom. An update to the responding units from 911 was that the wife of the patient was performing CPR. The 911 operator was coaching the wife through CPR. A Litchfield police officer arrived on scene within minutes of the dispatch, the officer updated that it was a cardiac arrest and CPR was being performed. The officer utilized the Automatic External Defibrillator from his cruiser on the patient. The defibrillator administered three shocks. The officer continued with rendering care until Litchfield fire Department personnel arrived on the scene. With the assistance of the Litchfield police officer, Litchfield Fire Department personnel initiated advanced life support efforts and were able to regain a pulse and respirations. Advance life support care continued by both Hudson and Litchfield Fire staff during the transport to the hospital. As a result of the rescue their actions on December 13, 2020, they were hereby awarded a Life Saving Commendation. On behalf of the citizens of Litchfield, the Board of Selectman and the Litchfield Fire Department with the deepest appreciation for their dedication and commitment to duty we proudly present the Lifesaving Commendation Awards to Litchfield Police Officer Michael Clater, Litchfield Fire Lieutenant EMT Jason Hubbard, Squad Leader EMT Jeff Newell, Firefighter Advanced EMT Ernie Thomas, Firefighter Advanced EMT Joey Inamorati, Hudson Fire Lieutenant Paramedic Greg Rich, Hudson Firefighter Paramedic Sarah Delos Reyes and Hudson Firefighter EMT Adam Lebor.“
