The Conservation Commission found that someone had been digging into one of the old building foundations at Moore’s Falls and left bricks and a couple of other artifacts exposed and spilled over. After speaking with the president of the historical society, the decision was made to begin removing artifacts from the site to ensure they remained in public hands. The bricks were photographed as they were on site and then placed in buckets that were labeled by their location on the foundation. These remains are currently being stored at the town hall. It is unfortunate that we must take this action, but at least we still have them for the public to enjoy. Visitors to our conservation areas are more than welcome to explore these sites, but disturbing them and taking things from them is not a permitted activity. We all need to be respectful of our resources and share with everyone.
