It was about 12 years ago. My wife and I were stressing out about how our little 1st grader would handle her first school bus experience. The year before she attended Kindergarten at St. Francis and had a wonderful experience, especially with her Rock Star Teacher, Judy Brennen. But that year I drove her to and from school. This year was going to be a whole lot different. Miranda was VERY shy and we just didn’t know what to expect. Along came our hero, Kathy Shakley. We knew Kathy from St. Francis. Her son, Adam, was in Panda’s class. Turned out she was the bus driver for our route and she said “I’ll take care of Miranda, you have nothing to worry about”. Those of you with young children know exactly how relieved we were. It may sound like a minor thing but a bus ride to school can be traumatic and Kathy Shakley made every ride comfortable and safe. Our kids haven’t ridden the buses for a while now but the Fay Family will never forget the kindness and professionalism of Kathy Shakley. Congrats on your new endeavor, we love you !!

“After 15yrs of driving a school bus here in town, I decided to give my two weeks notice. I will certainly miss the kids and driving here. It was the best job and I truly enjoyed it. My kids both have graduated so I decided its time for me to move on. It was a very hard decision but I think its in my best interest. Have a great school year kids! I wish you all well.”
